One of the world’s largest producers of synthetic crude oil has a highly secure and safetycompliant plant site in Canada. IT staffing solutions have been key to the oil and gas leader’s successful operations for 20 years. In particular, the company required help with its service desk, migrations and upgrades, as well as specialized short-term projects.

Meeting compliance regulations

Working in IT at any oil and gas plant comes with a unique set of challenges and protocols. Because the industry is heavily regulated, the company’s IT staffing resources have to flawlessly execute on any given contract while adhering to strict codes of safety conduct.

The company chose Insight to supply its IT staffing for our expertise in the oil and gas sector, as well as our high standards of safety.

“We provide a solution for the client beyond skills, technology and tasks — and, in this case, understanding a work environment with strict safety practices” explains Insight IT Staffing Manager Loretta Leniuk.

A certified IT partner

“All of our resources are required to possess the industry-standard safety compliance certificates (OSSA, BSO, CSTS, mine training, etc.), take additional workshops and participate in spontaneous testing drills on-site,” Leniuk adds. That’s why Insight is one of the few vendors allowed to work directly on the client’s plant site. In fact, we have an on-site team lead who represents Insight in the monthly safety meetings, ensuring we’re always up to date on safety changes and alerts. As a result, we’ve earned several safety compliance awards from the client. When COVID-19 hit in March 2020, the client labeled our IT staffing resources as essential and requested we remain on-site while other teams  were transitioned to remote working environments.

Customizing solutions

Our IT staffing team has tailored a multitude of IT solutions for the gas and oil leader, including:

• Service desk

• Desktop team

• Projects team (migrations, upgrades, turnaround)

• Individual specialized resources for short-term or residency projects

These custom solutions and our high safety standards have garnered a 20-year relationship with this client. “It’s exciting to have a client that we can provide multiple solutions for their IT resource needs,” Leniuk says.

“With the long-term relationship we’ve had with this client, we can anticipate their requests ahead of time.”
