Skype for Business Server 2013 – Microsoft plans to launch during May

Skype for Business Server 2013 has replaced Lync Server 2013. Accordingly, Microsoft removed Lync Server 2013 from the SPUR.

Changes:

  • Cloud Platform Suite
Service Providers must use System Center 2012 R2 only to manage physical or virtual OSEs in the Host Fabric. SPs must also use System Center 2012 R2 only to manage Cloud Platform Guests and/or non-Microsoft operating systems hosted on the Host Fabric. Microsoft requires Service Providers to use Windows Azure Pack “WAP” for provisioning and deployment of a physical or virtual OSE in the Host Fabric. Microsoft also requires SPs to use Windows Server 2012 R2 as the operating systems for physical or virtual OSEs running on the Host Fabric.
  • Exchange Server 2013
Microsoft removed the reference to device SALs from the additional terms for Outlook client software.
  • System Center 2012
Microsoft clarified System Center 2012 R2 allows the SP to use the System Center server software to manage an endpoint. An endpoint is a device running a server OS. SPs should count the processors in the endpoint managed by the System Center software.

SPLA Pricing Summary

Following the SPLA Program terms, the price changes will be reflected on the January 2015 pricelist.

Microsoft will increase the prices it charges SPLA Resellers for the following software products. Microsoft will publish the January pricelist on December 1, 2014 on explore.ms. Please note, there may be slight differences (+/-) on the published pricelist depending on any regional pricelist variances/currencies.

**This licensed software has been deleted from the price list. You may only continue reporting this software if you reported it when the software was generally available unless otherwise permitted by a SPLA amendment. Service Providers under a new or renewal SPLA may only report usage for the available versions, Dynamics GP 2013, Dynamics NAV 2013 R2, and Dynamics SL 2011, using the part numbers and prices on the SPLA price list published.

In order to align pricing across Dynamics product versions, price increases to Dynamics SL 2011, GP 2010 and NAV 2009 will be applied on January 2015.  Microsoft deleted these SKUs from the SPLA price list published on explore.ms. For the avoidance of doubt, Service providers may only report these SKUs if they were reported when the software was available on the published SPLA price list and SPUR. Microsoft will not accept orders for these deleted SKUs on a SPLA effective after January 1, 2013.

Cloud Platform Suite Guest and Cloud Platform Suite Host SKU’s will not appear on the January SPLA Academic Pricelist. These SKU’s were incorrectly removed, but are available for ordering and Microsoft will correct the SPLA Academic Pricelist as soon as possible. Please continue to order these SKU’s per normal process, and leverage the December 2014 price file for pricing.

Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2015

To complete the work started a year ago to rationalize packaging and pricing between SPLA and other licensing programs, the customization pack is being introduced to Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2015.  Each reported Proc makes it possible for a partner to customize NAV for one End-User organization using one of the following six object types (in the following quantities):  Tables (10), Codeunits (100), Pages (100), Reports (100), Queries (100), or XML Ports (100).

Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 became available on Services Provider License Agreement (SPLA) in July 2014. Subscriber Access License (SAL) use rights were updated to fully align with the on-premises CALs.  Pricing updates associated with Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 are effective January 1, 2015.

Price Reductions for MOD Server Applications scheduled for June 2014  (subject to change)

While individual SKUs are decreasing in price, it’s important to highlight the real value is when partners use the Productivity Suite (Exchange Standard, Lync Enterprise, and SharePoint Standard), where they will realize the greatest savings overall.  With the 25% Price reduction on the Productivity Suite, the suite discount is now 52% versus the individual suite components.

While prices for Exchange Standard SAL and Standard Plus SAL are not changing, starting with the April 2014 SPUR, Microsoft added Unified Messaging capabilities to these SAL’s, significantly increasing their value. Previously, Unified Messaging capabilities required Exchange Enterprise or Enterprise Plus SAL’s.

SQL Server Available April 2014

SQL Server 2014 is the next major release of SQL Server and builds on the mission-critical capabilities delivered in the prior release by providing breakthrough performance, availability and manageability for mission critical applications. SQL Server 2014 delivers new in-memory capabilities built into the core database for OLTP and data warehousing, which complement our existing in-memory data warehousing and BI capabilities for the most comprehensive in-memory database solution in the market.

Microsoft SQL Server 2014 also provides new disaster recovery and backup solutions with Windows Azure, enabling customers to use their existing skills with the on-premises product offerings to take advantage of Microsoft’s global datacenters. In addition, SQL Server 2014 takes advantage of new Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2 capabilities to give you unparalleled scalability for your database application in a physical or virtual environment.

Forefront Identity Manager Synchronization Service for Hosting 2010 R2 is now available to SPLA partners in a new licensing model: Per Processor Model.

This new offer will enable the Service Providers thru SPLA to provide solutions for customer scenarios with the need for more complex identity management and active directory architectures. This offer will give SPLA Partners the tools to sync AD environments.  It enables the synchronization of AD instances thru a processor licensing model, without the need to count the number of end users accessing the functionality. They will be able to sync between end customer’s environment and a SPLA Partners hosted AD.

Microsoft Forefront Identity Manager 2010 R2 under the SAL licensing model is still available in SPLA.

SPLA AGREEMENT REFRESH

  • End customer facility install language requirement that servers must be owned by service provider removed, Servers must be under day-to-day management of service provider
  • Service providers can use other service provider’s (including Azure) for their infrastructure/datacenter. Application sales reported by service provider.
  • $100 minimum and zero use only accepted in first six months.
  • Requirement for service providers to join hosting community removed.
